Wanna know s secret??

I lacked a TON of confidence when I entered this industry.

I was an older, insecure student.
I was introverted.
I questioned my purpose.

And I wasn't a "seasoned entrepreneur" when I decided to transition and study interior design. See, I'd been killin' it as a decorator, but I wasn't the best business owner. Plus, decorating/design was a 3rd career choice for me and I so wanted it to be the right "fit". But I had so much to learn to switch my decorating business to a design firm.

But one day while sitting in class, listening to a presentation from @asidtexasgulfcoastchapter, the Holy Spirit tapped me on the shoulder and said "You're going to have to get COMFORTABLE being UNCOMFORTABLE" Then I felt Him put a #superwoman cape on my back!

It was in that moment, I realized that God had my back and we were going to do this journey together.

Through insecurities
Through uncertainties
Through hardships

And since then, He's never left me or turned on His word.

So, to every woman (and you men too😉) unsure of your direction, purpose, or strengths...TRUST GOD and ask Him to give you your own "cape" of strength. Cause the world needs all of you❤️

WNWN...Rhonnika Edition🤪

Visiting NYC again for #WNWN2025 @nydc was just the right mix of business & pleasure that I needed!

I saw beautiful new design trends...heard some inspiring panels...and caught up with some of my most beloved design friends.

But can I be honest with you??

It was hard to come back to reality...my reality😕

You see, business as I've known it over the last 10 years just hasn't been the same these past 2 years...

I'm an open book enough to say that the shifts and turbulence in the economy have slowed my thriving residential design business all but to a halt...

And while most of the industry acts like all is well🙄, I see differently for myself and, quite frankly, many business owners (small, medium, annnnd large).

But because I know whose I am, I'm quietly & intensely praying for God to reveal His plans to me (Jeremiah 29:11) because...I KNOW THAT'S NOT THE END OF MY STORY!🙌🏾

So, while I wait, I'm going to get up...get cute😉...stay prayed up...smile... and continue to thank God for my daily bread [blessings].

Pray for me and I'll pray for you...new week, new grace & mercies. Deal?!😃

Today I stopped by @starfurniture for the @sherwinwilliams #colorforecast2026 event, where the 2026 color stories were unveiled in all their bold glory.

And guess what? The Vignette Challenge I participated in was officially revealed, live and on display! Alongside two other talented designers, we translated color trends into a space that speaks volumes (yes, you need to come see it in person).

But the party isn’t over…tomorrow at 1:00 PM, Star Furniture is bringing together some of the industry’s most authoritative voices for a free event: a dynamic panel on color trends in home furnishings. Expect live music, colorful desserts, nitrogen ice cream (yes, really), and insider tips on using color fearlessly.

My heart is broken...

Even though I knew that one day you would go home, I didn't know it would be so soon.

I'M SO MAD AT CANCER FOR STRIPPING ANOTHER ONE OF MY LOVED ONES FROM HAVING A WHOLE, HEALTHY LIFE‼️😠😭

But I gotta say babe, you handled it like a G! You whooped cancer's a** not once, but twice‼️ Although you ultimately lost the battle on the 3rd round, you actually won...

Why? Because you fully gave your life to Christ and I had the pleasure of watching you grow in your faith and spirituality over these past 5+ years. Shoot, we grew together‼️

I watched you go from being a powerhouse, single, entrepreneur to a loving wife and stepmother. Although short-lived, you made such a huge impact on their lives👨‍👩‍👧

We started out as colleagues (we partnered on some amazing, even award-winning projects) and didn't automatically transition into friendship, but when we did, we were locked in.

You were passionate, compassionate, fiery, bold, brave, nurturing, a ball of fun, and you lived life to the fullest...on your terms‼️Although I neverrrrrr knew what would come out of your mouth🫣😅, you were a great listener and I valued your authenticity. Thank you for being completely genuine, vulnerable, and transparent in our friendship.

We both loved and repped our city hard🤘🏾, but you were also a very proud Greek woman. Thank you for showing me your culture.

Now I understand why you and God concocted a plan for us to spend the day together last Friday. Being at the movies, laughing, eating salty concession food, loosing the truck🤦🏾‍♀️, and playing Wii with your husband & stepdaughter was all in His intentional plan. You both knew you would be leaving soon💔

Goodbye for now sister. I'm so thankful you're out of pain and cancer doesn't have a hold on you anymore. Now your sole rests in the arms of our Father and for that, I'm happy🥹

Thank you to everyone who's called, text, and checked on me. If you know me...really know me...you know your calls and quality time means the world to me🥰

Question for y’all today: Who or what do you do "IT" for?

✨️God?
✨️Job/Career?
✨️Family?

I ask myself this all the time. For me, the grind has never just been about a career in interior design...it’s about living a purpose-driven life that honors God, fills my soul with joy, and leaves a lasting legacy. A legacy that speaks to the next generation of children in my family and to young Black girls and boys growing up in a world that has too often tried to place them in boxes.

I want them to see me. A plus-sized Black woman...sometimes insecure about my weight and my birthmark (in case you didn't know that's what's on my forehead)...sometimes up...sometimes down...but always pushing forward with passion and purpose.

Some may look at what I do and see design. Others may see mentorship. But I see it as a ministry. My work is how I serve God and the love I have for myself. By showing that you can be fully yourself, flaws and all, and still walk boldly in your calling.

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” – Matthew 5:16 ✨

So now I’ll ask again — who (or what) do YOU do it for?

You know what I just realized??

There's something sacred about this space...

This #bathroom...

Yes, the same one with the fancy faucet, styled vanity, and pretty pink details, has quietly become my prayer closet. It holds my Bible verses, whispered prayers, deep sighs, healing tears, and some of the most intimate conversations I’ve ever had with the Holy Spirit.

Between deadlines, scaling a business, and closing deals, this is where I lay it all down. No filters, no pretense. Just me and God.

It’s a reminder that the holy time I spend with God doesn’t need a stage...it needs surrender🙌🏾

Yesterday, I had the honor of being invited into the studio at Houston Matters to talk about something that deeply impacts the way we move through spaces. The topic: "What defines spaces, such as restaurants, cafes, and venues, welcoming to certain genders even if there isn’t special language to indicate that it is?"

You know how you can walk into a place and just feel seen, safe, and respected? Like it was designed just for you?! Well, that feeling isn’t random. It’s intentional design, and usually at the hands of a talented designer and/or architect.

As an interior designer, this conversation was fresh and a great new perspective on why interior design is so important and beneficial. From the layout of a café to the lighting in a dressing room, the design of a space can sometimes hold the power to affirm or alienate.

I’m grateful for the invitation to share my perspective, lived experience, and industry insight with the amazing folks at Houston Public Media. The conversation was real, thoughtful, and necessary (and super fun 😁).

I went into this collaboration with @getleafyproducts for BET Awards Week with zero expectations. No pressure. No desire to meet celebrities. Just vibes, faith, and a heart open to whatever God had waiting on the other side.

And just like He always does… He blew my mind.

The inaugural LEAFY Awards by @leafyproducts ended up being one of those rooms...where every convo felt aligned, and every intro felt like, “Ohhh okay God, I see what You’re doing.”

I connected with some dope entrepreneurs doing real purpose-driven work.

@akomapaco – a Houston gem making body care that feels like a hug from your ancestors

@flexxfitness – fitness coach outta NC with a heart for healing and results that speak for themselves

@naturesrehab – full of energy and passion, creating organic skin & hair products that are both clean and clutch

@blackeden1912 – a whole power couple out here building a legacy in the luxury spirits world. Black. Refined. Intentional.

It reminded me that your NETWORK really can shape your NETWORTH, but only if you’re open.

Stop chasing...start aligning. God’s gonna lead you right to the people, rooms, and opportunities meant for you.

No forcing. No faking. Just faith and follow-through.

I don't know about you, but some doors I kick open. Others? I build from scratch...with vision, grit, and a tape measure in hand😉

Because here's the truth: even when the world says "no," I don’t stop, I strategize. I elevate. I scale. I vet every opportunity. Even the ones that don’t look like much at first glance.

Why?

Because favor doesn’t always wear a name tag. Sometimes it shows up in the least expected places.

Design, discovery, and a whole lot of denim (who doesn't love a good jumper, right?!🤠)

Tuesday, I pulled up to Magnolia Manor with some of Texas’ top-tier stagers from Houston & Austin for a day full of design inspiration, belly laughs, tasty treats (that #silocookie though🫠🤤), and just the right amount of shopping damage.

From exploring the silos to swapping industry gems and soaking up inspo at every turn, this was the kind of day trip that reminds you why we really love what we do! Annnndddd, why it's great to support one another and collaborate😉

Shoutout to @texas_stagers for the invite and for keeping the vibes high all day long. I'm so glad I got a chance to reconnect with @debonairhomestaging and meet some great up-and-coming Houston-based stagers.

I started to give up...

Y'all, I gotta be honest... I've gotten to the point where I can go days without posting on or even opening IG. The distraction that it causes me often immediately reminds me of the many tangible things in front of me that I could be working on.

So, yes, it's taken me over 2 weeks to get this #day2recap from IBS|KBIS because... I've been getting tangible sh** done over here!🤷🏾‍♀️😅

But! Today, I had a lil time, and I knew y'all had been sitting on the edge of your seats waiting for it😏 so here it is!

Day 2 was all about KBIS. While strolling through North Hall, I was captivated by the booths and product introductions from some of my favorite brands.

Here's my top 5 list...
1️⃣ @kohler gave moody sexy with several collaborations that showcased color-drenching, texture, and scale

2️⃣ @houseofrohl brought all the drama, showing us how their brands exude highend luxury and durability

3️⃣ @deltafaucet stole the show for me this day because they brought the education! Not so much focused on the aesthetic, they showed us why they can solve any plumbing need and how it will stand the test of time

4️⃣ @brizofaucet came in right on the heels of Delta with this #franklloydwright inspired collection! If you know me, you know I'm a huge fan of his work, so I was totally geeked😃

5️⃣ My People! With the #kipsbayshowhouse happening at the same time, I didn't see many of my people, but I did get to spend some quality time with 2 of my favs @creative.redesign.by.neecy @boldintdesign🥰

There was a ton of #productknowledge to receive at the @intlbuildersshow this year, and this moment at the @naturekast booth with @cabifit_tx was one of many I want to share with you.

Never underestimate the FUNCTIONAL benefits of the furnishings & build worlds. I know there are thousands of options on the market (many of which are at #bigboxstores) that temp you to buy low (short-term), but believe-you-me, the value will be low too (long-term)!

Interior Designers invest their time into events like @kbis_official and IBS to stay ahead of the curve of the markets while gaining valuable product knowledge to pass along to our clients. We also build relationships DIRECTLY with manufacturers, owners, and reps who ensure we have all the knowledge & tools to PROPERLY support our clients.

WHEN THEY GO LOW (value), WE GO HIGH (value)‼️

So, the next time you feel like a service provider's "prices are too high," check their knowledge (as one qualifying skill). Oftentimes, there's more than meets the 👀 when you see that number on paper😉

Well, here it goes...

Fennnns, heres my long-awaited🤭 Day 1 post from the @kbis_official & @intlbuildersshow!

Day 1 was all about travel, a stroll through the IBS show with @cabifit_tx, and fulfilling some obligations with NAHB @homebuilders.

First, let me say...my stay at the Encore @wynnlasvegas was aaaaa-maaaa-zingggg! There wasn't one thing I'd change, and it will be my go-to destination anytime I'm in town🥰

As soon as I was all registered, it was off to the IBS side to link up with the CabiFit team. They introduced me to a great new cabinet supplier, and it definitely set my show experience off right!

The next biggest highlight of this day was my time with the #architecture and #constructionmanagement students from NAHB's HBCU student program. Shout out to @emmceethree and the entire #hbcu Student Leadership team for the invite to their luncheon. It was an honor to asked to be a mentor to the @pvamu student chapter and be in a room full of highly intelligent and aspirational students. I love the moment when my guys proudly said their PV chant...PV, YOU KNOWWWWW👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Baaaaby, that's what I told @greaterhoustonba #pwb committe when they asked me if I wanted to cook on a team for last weeks Galentine's Construction Contessa @fbs_appliance 😳😅

I mean, can I cook...YES😋

Do I cook for people I don't know & love...HECK NO!🥴

Well, not only did I cook, but I did it #chopped style. Our team, sponsored by @exteriorinspections, had 45 minutes to come up with a main dish AND 2 sides that included chicken and/or shrimp.

And guess who's recepie they went with...😵‍💫😄 So, ya girl made a #shrimpandchickenetouffee while the rest of the team slayed jasmine rice, bacon-wrapped asparagus, and we topped it off with jalapeño & fresh corn cornbread 😋

We didn't take home the top title, but I think we pioneered a new category...FAN FAVORITE🥰
